The annoying Firefox pop-up window size bug
Has anybody else experienced the frustration of trying to comment on blogs hosted by blogspot? You know, you click on “Leave a Comment,” and the pop-up window is about a tenth of the size it should be. You can’t read the other comments, and you certainly can’t leave one of your own. I was holding down the shift button and opening up a new window to do the commenting, but I finally got tired of it and went Googling today. I found a website with a video tutorial on how to fix the bug. The video’s not really necessary, though. All you do is type about:config in the address bar and then find the setting dom.disable_window_open_feature.resizable . Right click it, and set it to true (it’s set to false by default). Voila! You can now resize the stupid blogger and blogspot comment windows.

I use Slimbrowser.
If that’s an IE add-on, wouldn’t that mean it’s susceptible to the same vulnerabilities as IE?
Hadn’t noticed it, but then I run in single window mode and it just opens it as a new tab.
There are several things about Blogspot that irritate me to no end. These days if I visit a blog that isn’t built upon the WordPress platform I just hit the back button unless the content is VERY compelling.
Well, here’s one less thing you’ll have to worry about, then…
What I do is just middle-button-click (the scroll wheel) the “Post a comment” link, and that opens the option in a new tab on FF.
Hmm, that doesn’t work for me.
What mouse are you using, Casey? I use a Razer, and it’s pre-programmed to do that. Even my wife’s MS mouse is pre-programmed thus as well.
Thanks Casey – I had no idea this was a bug… I thought it was just more blogger random weirdness
I am with childlife, I had no idea it was a bug. I thought it was one of those annoyhing things that added up to make me not like blogger as well as wordpress.
Hi Casey, since that pic of the blog looks very much like it may have been my blog that you were attempting to comment on, and I haven’t seen any comments from you in awhile, I will go through and make it so that it doesn’t pop up in a window all by itself. Maybe that will fix the problem, in addition to the fix that you found. Blessings to you!
Bug fixed on my end. Perhaps next time, you’ll email me and let me know that you can’t comment??? Pretty please?
Blessings to you!
Ha, ha. I was opening up a new window myself with the shift key, Shalene, so it wasn’t preventing me from commenting. It was just annoying. It’s not just your blog, yours was just the first one that came to mind when I needed a screenshot. I haven’t been commenting because I’ve been busy lately and haven’t really had anything on my mind. God bless.
It’s really tough to code for cross-browser compatibility and sometimes people just give up and go with the market share. Sheesh, MSIE doesn’t even use the HTML OBJECT tag correctly, something that made something else that I was working on impossible, given the hosting environment and my ability to pass code through a filtered Web text box.
Was happened to me too. But that time I decide to close the window and left it…Lazy to think I am
. Well noted you tip in case I have this problem again. Thanks.
