I’ve joined the “dofollow” movement

Today I removed the “nofollow” attribute from links in comments using the LinkLove plugin. So now if you are a regular commenter (5 or more comments) on my blog you’ll get a backlink (provided you enter one in the URL field). Note that I still moderate all comments due to all the spam I get , so please keep your comments on topic. Comments like “Nice post” are indistinguishable from spam, so I won’t approve them…unless I know who you are, of course.

If you’ve left 5 or more comments in the past, don’t worry–the link is already being followed. Hopefully this will encourage participation and be some sort of reward for helping me improve my blog.

isn’t there a settings in the comment where you can automatically call one word comments spam plus akismet?

I don’t know. I’ll have a look. I’m still looking for ways to quit moderating. Once you’ve commented once and I’ve approved it any subsequent comments will automatically be approved.

Bravo! I use the same plugin on my WordPress sites. I also use Akismet to fight the spam. I find that Akismet works wonders….
