Republican YouTube debate
Not being in the US, I’m unable to watch most of the televised debates, but I was able to watch the YouTube debate. The biggest thing that struck me was how unpresidential Rudy seems. He seems like a small, small man. I don’t know what people see in him. He should not be the frontrunner. I think Huckabee won that debate hands down. I also enjoyed Fred Thompson’s performance. A lot of people apparently don’t like the slow way he talks, but that’s how we talk in the South. He’s still my favorite.

I agree about Rudy. He gained a lot of political capital in the days following 9/11, and he does have some good qualities. But he is far from being a conservative, and in my opinion there are several candidates who are more qualified to fill the most important position on the planet.
And did you catch his failure to either understand or hear (I can’t tell which it was: a lack of humor or hearing problems) Huckabee’s joke about helping him out with his answer to the question about the Bible? He seemed almost senile in that exchange. I also think he has some redeeming qualities, but he’s not presidential material.
I still wonder if Rudy will come out on top because conservatives are fairly splintered in their support. Gotta wonder if we will be able to rally around one candidate in early 2008.
There’s a good chance of that. I just hope one of the other candidates who is at least pretending to be a conservative will come out on top.

It’s still hush-hush, but word is Fred’s considering me as his VP.
I think Rudy is pretty smart.. he seems to be happy to let the conservatives duke it out in Iowa.. hopefully whoever wins in Iowa will be able to beat Rudy in NH.. it will be interesting.
Rudy’s Italian. Rudy’s a New Yorker. It would be against the laws of physics and nature itself for me not to vote for him.
