The big issue here is that no matter what, when you vote for a candidate, you are approving his beliefs. If a candidate believes in abortion, and you vote for him, you are just as guilty as voting for abortions yourself. Now I cannot think of any sin worse that abortion in our day -- the shedding of innocent blood as God said is one of the seven things He hates.

One other issue here is -- can a hate-monger be a Christian? Did not Jesus say we shall know them by the love they have for one another? Is there any difference between male or female, Jew or Greek for all are one in Christ Jesus - Romans 10:12. Is one a black or white male or female Christian, or just a plain Christian in Christ Jesus?

By the way, you're right about sound bites. The liberal press has been using them to perfection for years to tarnish the good names and reputations of some mighty good people. But in the case of Jeremiah Wright, what we heard were more than just isolated sound bites. They were extended portions of prepared sermons that, taken together in the context of the messages in which they were delivered, paint a very clear picture of this man's twisted sense of reality and lack of moral judgment.

Exodus 20:7 reads <i>"Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain."</i>

This is the third of the 10 Commandments, which "Reverend" Wright should be well familiar with. For him or any other "preacher" to take the Lord's name in vain out of anger or frustration during the course of casual conversation would be regrettable, yet understandable and forgivable. After all, the man is only human, and as such he is subject to all the failings that afflict every mortal man.

But for him to do so repeatedly in a prepared message to his congregation inside the walls of God's house is simply inexcusable. God will certainly forgive him if he sincerely repents, but his congregation should have removed him from the pulpit for good immediately upon hearing that sermon. I fact, they should have interrupted him and not even allow him to finish. God's house is holy place, and it should never be allowed to be defiled in such a crude manner.

As for the other hateful and ignorant things that spewed forth from his mouth, those were his opinions and he is entitled to them, however ridicuous they might be. But in my opinion they have no place in a sermon delivered from the pulpit. The primary job of a pastor (shepherd) is to care for and feed his sheep. I doubt if the Lord takes kindly to watching them being fed rotten garbage.

Hey Kansas Bob, your football team sucks moose balls.

I know you won't judge me for making that one little insult though, so I feel relatively safe in making these jabs.

It was Sharpton that said the man has done "so much good," wasn't it? No, I don't agree. There's a difference between disagreeing about non-essential issues and not wanting to associate yourself with a pastor who has serious character flaws.

For me I'd rather judge the "comments" the way that Obama did on Friday and with him "vehemently condemn" what his ex-pastor said but not feel a need to judge and condemn the pastor and his many years of ministry. I think it is okay to disagree with a person's view but don't think we need to demonize him.

I am sure that the members of (McCain endorser) John Hagee's church understand Obama's plight ... you can be a member of a church and not agree with everything your pastor says. Your pastor can call the Catholic Church the "scarlet clothed harlot" (as Haggee did) and not really represent your views. People stay at a church for many reasons - it is not all about the senior pastor.

I hope we can get past all of this rhetoric some time this year and focus on the issues. I will probably vote for McCain in November because of his stand on issues not because John Hagee endorses him or what his pastor preaches.. hmmm.. wonder if John goes to church?

I take it that you don't agree with what Sharpton said on the video :)

I really don't understand the eagerness to dismiss the comments from the left... If the same comments had been made at the church of a republican candidate, the left and the media would immediately be out to attack the conservative candidate's integrity. Seems like a double standard to me.
