I disagree, of course, but you're certainly welcome to your opinion, Cathy. Thanks for stopping by.

I'm not sure that Sarah was chosen by McCain, but by others who coerced him into this "brilliant" political choice. Either way she seems a mistake to me. She's attractive and a good actress, but has been deceptive about the bridge to nowhere, which she initially supported, and seemed to by trying to conceal her daughters pregnancy. She also seems to be bluffing, or at least greatly exaggerating, the extent of her experience. It appears to me that Sarah's family desperately needs her at home. The whole package makes me queasy and doubtful of John McCain's judgement, either in selecting her himself or allowing others to select her for him.

Regarding environmentalism as a religious experience: I am a christian who believes that God has given us his creation to care for so it can sustain all of life. This is not a substitute for worshipping Him, but a way to do so.

Palin's choice is sure to attract at least a portion of the "We want Hillary" crowd (the portion who were dead set on voting for a woman no matter what). She won't attract many of the folks who were planning to vote for Hillary solely because they agree with her politics however, but that is not why McCain chose her in the first place.

Overall, this was a brilliant move on McCain's part because Palin has repaired the holes in the bridge between his candidacy and the conservative wing of the Republican party.

Sarah Palin appealed to me over a year ago with her message of transparency and accountability. I liked her then and I like her even more now. I don't think she was picked because she was a woman but because she had the highest approval ratings of any Republican at one point or another.

I don't know, Scott. Do you mean she's a good choice strategy-wise or policy-wise? If the latter, then yes, I am shocked. ;)

This is probably going to shock you, but I think Palin is a good choice too. This is going to be an interesting race.

One of the dangers of trying to balance a career with child rearing I suppose. But I can't believe how widely covered the pregnancy thing is. It was even the top story on Yahoo Japan! I'm just glad that they are making the right decision to keep the baby and get married, while certain other people might urge an abortion so their daughters don't have to be "punished with a baby."

And her husband had a DUI over 20 years ago! The lefties are desperate for anything they can scrape up.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how well of a grasp Palin has on issues other than energy when she goes up again Biden.

I think she'll handle it. The story does lend credence to the argument that she should have been home with her family, though. Disappointing news, but it doesn't convince me I should support Senator Infanticide and Senator Abortion instead.
