Casey,
I dunno, I still have found no hard evidence of Obama being anything more than a slick talking, pathologically ambitious, opportunist. Believe me when I say I am not defending him. But people throw this label around to much in the States because they are afraid of it and rightfully so.
What I see him as is an archetypal American Liberal. That should be scary enough for people. None of this is to say he is not a political threat to the fabric of American life. By himself and a Republican Congress, he would be another Bill Clinton. But with Pelosi and Reid, he is Jimmy Carter squared.
Concerning the socialist thing I guess it is all how you interpret it. Glad to see you back online, take care and God bless.

Being a member of a socialist party and preaching the “spread the wealth” ideology does not make one a socialist? I don’t know any other way to interpret it…
I am not discounting the possibility of him at one time participating in a Socialist movement. I just have a hard time with old newspapers being offered as evidence since the CBS debacle and the photo shopping of Bush’s military records. There are those on the Right who would do the samething.
That aside, Obama is an egalitarianist I will give you that. But he has made no mention nor is there any hard evidence of him having anything other than hard liberal leanings. which use some socialist ideals, when it comes to the economy and its nationalization.
Aren’t we all egalitarianists? It really just boils down to a difference in approach, doesn’t it? I have a feeling that we’re going to find more evidence of his socialist leanings if he becomes president. This talk about him being some kind of savior is scary.
Seems that both socialists voted for that $700b bailout
