McCain raising profile on pro-life views

McCain is now being more vocal about his pro-life views, presumably because he wants the social conservative vote. If he’d come out against ESC research it would be much easier for me to vote for him. How can people claim to be pro-life and still support research that kills the unborn? It makes no sense to me.

McCain says: “I believe the noblest words ever written,” he added, “are those that said all of us are created equal and endowed with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and ‘life’ means the rights of the born and the unborn,” he said.

Does that include the unborn when they’re really tiny, Senator McCain?

Still, I’ll probably be voting for the first time in my life this year, and that vote will go to John McCain.

Hopefully, with the breakthrough research by Shinya Yamanaka and James Thomson which proves that stem cells can be created from skin cells, ESC research will soon be irrelevant anyway. In fact, maybe it already is: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=16470482

In the articel you linked to he said “at one town hall forum that pro-lifers could count on him being an “active” advocate for the unborn.”

..about time.. has he ever initiated/sponsored any real prolife legislation?

..I have been wondering when the last time anybody in Congress sponsored a bill to overturn Roe v. Wade?

..gotta wonder if it is all just a big dung-heap of rhetoric to get votes?

..I hate being deceived with empty words.

..sorry to be so crabby ..the choices are just bad this year..

Doesn’t make any sense to me either — except in the context of how it might win him more votes :-w

Go McCain! And God help us all. :o

BTW, I can’t believe you weren’t on my linkroll. I have since corrected that mistake and humbly beg forgiveness. :D

    @Linc

I’m now leaning toward voting for McCain, because of the Supreme Court. I don’t think this year is going to be the best year to do a protest vote, since whoever nominates the next SC justice is going to stack the court in their favor for the next two decades. I’ll do my protest vote in 2012 when there’s less at stake.

As for the link. Thanks. It appears yours has gone missing from my blogroll since I switched domains, so I’ll add yours back, too.

    Keep up the great work!

Although I am worried, I just saw a local News report predicting that John McCain will loose his home state of Arizona!!!

    Is this for real??!!

Thanks, jsw. That’s just wishful thinking on the part of Democrats. McCain may lose the election, but he’s going to carry Arizona.
