The death knell for Fred’s candidacy?

President of Focus on the Family James Dobson has come out against Fred Thompson’s candidacy. I share some of Dr. Dobson’s concerns, so I wonder if this might be the death knell for Fred’s candidacy. I don’t care about him not being open about his faith. As someone once said about Mitt Romney, he’s not running for Pastor-in-Chief. But I am concerned about Fred not supporting a federal marriage amendment. Leaving it up to the states is not a solution. It just puts the problem off for a while. Even before he let his opposition to the federal marriage amendment be known, I wasn’t too happy about his support of the McCain-Feingold amendment, but I was willing I was willing to overlook it.

Hmmm … Dobson doesn’t like Fred … all of a sudden Fred is looking better

I didn’t take the interview that way. I think Gingrich chose his words carefully. He was focusing on the legal definition of perjury, so I don’t think it’s relevant to question his opinion of lying in general. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t support a Gingrich candidacy.

I still like Fred. He’s a down-to-earth guy, and how could I not like him, being from Tennessee myself? I’m not really even endorsing Dr. Dobson’s opinions, either. I’m just saying he has a lot of influence. I think Dobson’s right on this issue, too. We need a federal marriage amendment.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Dobson but I think that his focus on social conservatism clouds his judgment about fiscal conservatism.

I don’t really know a lot about Dr. Dobson. I guess if I had kids I’d probably have some of his books. I do appreciate his ministry, though, and he does have a lot of influence. I understand what you’re saying about social and fiscal conservatism. I’m almost willing to forgive Huckabee’s fiscal liberalism for his strong social conservatism. I thought I was dead set on Fred Thompson, but now I’m not so sure. I’ll still vote for him if he gets the nomination…

Newt Gingrich, while not running yet, is far better then any other current republican running for president. He is far more conservative and a better Christian in my opinion. In fact I don’t trust any of the other republicans.

Giuliani is a Democrat

Romney is ok but a flip-flop and a cult member I mean Mormon.

Ron Paul I like but he is crazy and I don’t like his views on Iraq but at least he is honest. But he will never make it.

Huckabee is a good guy and honest but he does not have what it takes to be president in my opinion.

Sam Brownback knows nothing he is a Kansas boy.

Fred Thomason… who? Unless who proves himself I see no hope from him.

The rest don’t matter.

So give it up because when Newt announces to run we have our candidate and future president. If he does not run though then say hello to Hillary Clinton our socialist mother or that is president.

Gingrich has higher negatives than Hillary. There’s no way he could win. I hope for the sake of America he does not get the nomination.

Agree with Casey about Newt. Too bad Newt couldn’t keep his vows to his wife as he was impeaching Clinton for a lesser offence than he was commiting at that time … that resulted in Newt’s divorce.
