I'll have to ponder that for a while. I don't know if I could vote for McCain even if Thompson was his VP.

He only beat Romney by one percentage point in a place where he needed to win. I think that Fred's problem is personality not message. He may have the message of Ronald Reagan but unfortunately he has the personality of George Bush.. Huckabee has Reagan's personality. The country has had enough of Bush's personality and is looking for a different type of leader.. it is why, I am sorry to say, Fred doesn't have a chance.. maybe he will get a VP nod if McCain takes it all?

Looks to me like third place, unfortunately (with a quarter of all the precincts reporting). I wish people would wake up and see that Huckabee is not a conservative.

The polls have been consistently wrong, have they not? Let's wait for the actual returns...

With Mitt's win in Michigan, it's too early to count him out. If Giuliani wins in Florida, he'll be right back in the race, too. For now, let's hope the voters in SC do the right thing.

I fully agree, casey.
He is the one with the momentum there right now, which can be for no other reason than that people actually agree with him, and aren't just picking the candidates most likely to win.

I think he is going to give McCain a serious run for his money, and in the end, assuming he wins S.C., it will be down to McCain and Thompson for the nomination, and McCain is one of those candidates who won't fare as well if it is down to a two or three person race.

SC is big. I fully expect him to come in first or second and ahead of Huckabee. I don't think he can survive a third place finish or even a distant second.

SC is a biggie for Fred ... he needs to be in the top 3 or it won't look good for his candidacy.
