Scientists exaggerate? Tell me it ain’t so!

It turns out that “The United Nations’ top AIDS scientists plan to acknowledge this week that they have long overestimated [read “lied about”] both the size and the course of the [AIDS] epidemic, which they now believe has been slowing for nearly a decade…” They also said they cannot rule out futher downward revisions. Leave it to Rush Limbaugh to shed some light on what this really means:

Now, why would they do that? Why would the UN overestimate the AIDS epidemic? Can anybody say money? Same reason Ted Danson overestimated the death of the oceans. Can anybody ask the same question about global warming? Why would the UN be overestimating the destruction from global warming?

…Just take the AIDS epidemic outta here and put global warming in it and you’ve got an identical story in about ten years.

“Some researchers, however, contend that persistent overestimates in the widely quoted U.N. reports have long skewed funding decisions and obscured potential lessons about how to slow the spread of HIV. Critics have also said that U.N. officials overstated the extent of the epidemic to help gather political and financial support for combating AIDS.” Oooh, okay, so they did it strategically. They were smart. They lied on purpose to get our attention, to make sure we knew just how rotten it was going to be, and to make sure that governments around the world and individuals threw money at AIDS programs all over the world, administered by the United Nations.

Can anybody say, global warming overestimated? Same bunch of people…

…Now, remember what is fundamentally involved in all this: science. Science told us it was going to spread; it was going to spread to the heterosexual community. Science told us it was going to spread at geometric rates. It was a consensus of scientists. Scientists, scientists, scientists told us that this was all going to be one of the most devastating things around the world. It was time to cough up money for education, and condoms, and cucumbers and all that, and we had rock stars like Bono establish philanthropic careers on the basis of all this, all based on science.

The United Nations certainly has no problem being “loose with the truth” when it helps further its agenda, which seems to be pretty much any time they choose to expound on a topic or make a public statement. Many of our elected leaders seem to be on a mission to cede as much of our sovereignty and as many of our God-given rights to the UN as possible, and the patriots among us need to do everything we can to help stop them.

There were a lot of African governments inflating their own stats, too, to get the money.

It completely took me by surprise. Africa? Corruption? Never!

Ha, ha. :) I see you appreciate sarcasm as well.

Maybe I should pass along to them some of my recent contacts from Nigeria. It seems that there are a number of upstanding Nigerian citizens who happen to have large sums of money that they are willing to share… just some slight technical complications accessing their accounts that they need a teeny tiny bit of help with… Surely the UN could do something?

    Ha, ha. :)

So, Science is an evil empire that is out there to make AIDS and Global Warming appear worse than it is. And if Scientists and the UN are doing this, lets say, does that mean that these problems do not exit…and that we should ignore them?

This goes to the heart of the matter. Cut the AIDS epidemic in half, and you still have a pandemic…cut Global Warming in half, and you still have a the natural world and us in grave danger. Therefore, it makes no sense that science is exaggerating the dangers of AIDS and Global Warming…cut these problems in half, and you still have huge issues.

They just want to use these issues to bash the UN and science…the old Republican angle.
IE…shoot the messenger and ignore the problem…this is why we are in these grave positions today.

It is obvious that these blow hearts have not had AIDS or Global Warming touch their lives, for if they had, their point of view about the realities of these problems would be clear to them.

Maybe Rush Limbaugh should stick to “the evils of science” subjects that he is familiar with such as the abuse of Oxycotin, obesity in America, and foot-in-mouth disease…then he would have some creditability to speak out these matters.

Absolutely. It makes no sense unless the problems are not as severe as they would like you to believe. Follow the money…and in the case of the UN: the money and desire for power.
